MIB-170 Premium Benchtop

Lighting Products and Referee Level Particle Standards for Manual Inspection Projects

The MIB-170™ Manual Inspection Booth is the latest addition to the dual-sided lighting lineup. The MIB-170™ offers top & bottom lighting with a 200 mm deep inspection volume. The system implements the latest LED lighting controller (Model 3622) and LED lighting modules. The system has fixed lighting module positions and implements unique interchangeable diffusers to change the light intensity range.

The MIB-170™ is designed for installation of desk or laboratory bench. The system is available in a white powder coat finish (standard configuration) or in stainless steel (clean room use). The HMI display can be mounted either in the attached armrest (standard configuration) or in the upper panel. The product has a wide selection of options to customize the booth to meet your exact requirements.

The MIB-170™ come standard with a “Base” diffuser set (upper and lower) that provides a light intensity range of 2,000 to 10,000 Lux. The Base diffuser meets the requirements of most common visual inspection applications. Additional diffusers may be added to the MIB-170™ at the time of order. The “D1” diffuser provides a range of 4,000 to 12,000 Lux and the “D2” diffuser set provides a light intensity range of 3,000 to 8,000 Lux.

The Base unit in the series is the MIB-175™ which has the same physical dimension as the MIB-170™. The MIB-175™ is an analog unit and does not implement a PLC or Operator Interface (HMI) for system operations. The base unit uses a “Master Light Intensity Control” potentiometer to adjust the light intensity in the inspection volume. The MIB-175™ configuration has the light from the top and bottom light sources balance at one intensity (3750 Lux), variations in the light intensity for the two sources will diverge above or below from this point.

The MIB-170™ incorporates a PLC and HMI for parameter settings and control of the system. The system also has digital light control for the upper and lower light sources so that they remain balanced over the entire illumination range. The user simply enters the desired light intensity level in Lux on the HMI and the MIB-170™ produce the correct intensity of light in the inspection volume (±200 Lux target value). The digital light control also makes the calibration of the instrument simple and fast.

The MIB-170™ also provides a Pacer function and LED indicators on each side of the Black / White background to keep the inspection operation at the preset interval. All timers can be set to a precision of 0.1 second intervals from 0.1 to 999.9 seconds. Verification of operation is provided by both LED indicator and countdown on the HMI screen.

A new feature set has been added to the MIB-170™ for limiting the time that an inspector can stay on task (inspecting). A “Task Timer” and a “Break Timer” have been added to the system. The “Task Timer” will limit the time that an inspection can perform inspection. The Task Timer can be set between 1 minute to 500 minutes. The value is set in the Options screen and will require the system to be set in the “Program” mode. When the Task Timer has expired the user has the choice to either allow a new inspector to use the booth or to take a mandatory Break Period in which the Pacer functions of the MIB-170™ are disabled. The “Break Timer” duration can be set to a value of 1 to 60 minutes. After expiration of the “Break Timer” the user may continue the inspection process.

A new Light Curtain Option (LCO) has been added to the MIB-170™ product. This option is used in place of the foot peddle option to initiate the inspection sequence. The Pacer Timer will automatically start when the user inserts the container in the inspection volume. The system will also inform the user if the container is removed from the inspection volume prematurely by displaying a message on the HMI and providing an audible signal (which may be disabled from the Options Menu).
